breaking UI Gnome3 #353

I noticed that by some times when i ran FinalTerm (and all of the following) it started to break Gnome3 Interface. I'm not sure it is common problem (i found no issue searching for gnome3), since i run ubuntu 13.10 on which i changed between desktop environments few times (so maybe something broke in the process). Anyway, when i run FinalTerm, program window show up, but rest of the screen goes white, except for top bar, all icons and characters becomes white squares (including those on top bar). Beside blinding whiteness functionality seems to work properly (i managed to grope for shutdown button). EDIT Here are screenshots: white screen whitescreen gnome3 Activities view activities

I can't reproduce this with a fresh install of debian (with gnome3). Does this not happen consistently? I can try using your exact setup (i.e., Ubuntu 13.10 and gnome 3), but I suspect that it might be on your end. I just broke my debian virtual machine by trying to upgrade to testing anyway, so I don't mind trying all that much.

As i said, it may well be specific to my machine, though i noticed problem and decided to file the issue for further consultation. It happens occasionally, not always. Also as mentioned, i tried various desktop environments on that instance and it may well be something is messed up on my side, i agree. And yet no other application ever caused this kind of behaviour and i'm 100% it is related to finalterm. It may be issue of libs compatibility or such - i will try to investigate matter further.

The screenshots clearly show an issue with GNOME Shell (from the looks of it, a GPU texture issue), not with Final Term. That this issue is triggered by Final Term running does not mean that Final Term is where the bug is – no program should be able to break the shell like that if the shell is working properly. I've seen similar issues many times on GNOME Shell desktops and they always boiled down to problems with Clutter's GPU rendering.

So while I'd love to help you, I'm going to have to leave this one to the GNOME devs.

(im not sure if this is proper way to reply, but isse is closed and i want something related to this)

Well, im not complaining. It's just i noticed such thing and wanted to provide some feedback since i admire Your project. I'd like to contribute even though for lack of time and vala know-how i do not see how could it happen in foreseeable future. You've surely got some better developers though, and im anxious to see v 1.0 :) Godspeed!
