No sound all of a sudden #27

I had it working a few days ago, but when i try now, it doesn't reroute the audio from the unused device to the default one. In this case i'm using voicemeeter, the unused device is vaio3 and the normal one is output 1. I set the dropdown menu to vaio3, and nothing. no sound. it keeps playing like normal. if i listen to the unused device i can hear it. where as previously i could not. not sure what is happening. this is with the latest version, and all of the previous ones.

Let's start with the easy steps:

  1. Did you click "Start stream"? The audio playback doesn't begin until you click start.
  2. When you select Start stream you should see an audio meter. Does it detect any sound?
JerriTheInsane56 commented 1 year ago

I do, the audio stream does show the audio meter, but it doesn't output to default. It gives me the large preview of the obs window. But no sound. Sound is playing through the device it's set to when not streaming. When It would usually not until I pressed play stream.

Sorry, I'm having problems understanding what you mean.

The audio meter has bars that move up and down to show the captured audio. Are they moving or not?

JerriTheInsane56 commented 12 months ago

the audio meters sound things do move. i've been messing with it some more. but still nothing, they move but the sound from the unused device doesn't come out of the default one

If the audio meter is moving, it means that everything is set up correctly and DiscordAudioStream is hearing sound. Go to Windows audio settings and make sure that the Output device of DiscordAudioStream is set to "Default" so that you can hear it, and also check if the volume is loud enough. (Note that sometimes DiscordAudioStream won't show up on the Windows volume mixer until you click Start stream).

It should look like this: image
