That issue seems resolved, is there a release version of pillow with the fix included? Then we can just bump the version in the requirements.
To get things running, you should be good to go without Pillow - it is only used if you want to rescale images uploaded to the photo gallery.
Ok, bumped the Pillow version to 2.3.0, can you please confirm if you still have the problem on Debian and Arch?
Yes, Pillow 2.3.0 worked fine for me.
Thanks for reporting the problem! I'm closing the ticket. Would love to hear a bit about what you are planning with the mechanical MOOC, we may be able to help.
@dirkcuys I'm porting https://www.udemy.com/enois-videodocumentario/ to an free/opensource platform, thinking of using mechanical-mooc. Suggestions?
We've used it for a few big courses. The main focus of the MechanicalMOOC is to leverage the web as a platform.
That can mean many things - for the Gentle Introduction to Python that meant the content lived on MIT Open Courseware, discussion happened at OpenStudy and we also used Codecademy.
For the latest course, Play With Your Music, some content lived on the site while other content was on youtube. Discussion happened on Google+.
Scheduling happened via email that contained most of the glue. Those were posted manually on wordpress blogs: http://playwithyourmusic.wordpress.com/ and http://mechanicalmooc.wordpress.com/.
We're also investigating github pages as a viable alternative for ongoing courses - https://github.com/p2pu/jekyll-course-template. That may be worth a look, but it's not 100% ready.
If you are willing to share your question on our discourse forum: thepeople.p2pu.org, that would be great since the smart learning people hang out there. I'm the monkey in the basement and can give you tech advice :)
Oh, I'm another underground dweller, a Drupal hacker with some experience in Python (scrapy!), Ruby (middleman) and NodeJS (express). I tried running lernanta, but it didn't work for me -- can I ask lernanta questions there?
Due to https://github.com/python-imaging/Pillow/issues/435, installing mechanical-mooc fails on Debian and Arch Linux.
