The issue is specific to tool-based TAS script playback. It's caused by tools overriding inputs in a way which prevents demo recording from registering it. We could find a workaround for it, but I'd say it's actually better this way, considering the fact it's actually encouraged to create demo recordings of a raw TAS script playback (for verification and legitimacy purposes)
