@jameshiebert selected the Columbia basin today and was able to see data, despite the fact that we don't have any data for the Columbia basin.
My first thought was that maybe the back end returns data for the whole file when you select a region outside the spatial extent, but PCEX has the same backend and doesn't do this, so it can't be our issue.

Possibly related: https://github.com/pacificclimate/scip-frontend/issues/38 - maybe issues with passing selected region to the graph display components are at fault.
