How does the tracker's data collection interval affect battery runtime? #4

The smaller the communication interval the more often the device will attempt to communicate with the mobile network to send data. The communication interval doesn't affect the device's internal data measurement interval which can be as low as 40 milliseconds. However most of the device's battery is spent on communication. So to maximize the battery runtime you should use largest possible communication interval that satisfies your requirements for data granularity. Only single data row is produced for each successful data send.

Refer to table below for rough estimates of runtime on different communication intervals. Please note that signal quality and environmental variables can affect the actual runtime.

Interval Approximate runtime
24 h 1 year
12 h 10 months
8 h 9 months
1h 70 days
