[N-56U] IP conflict/subnet issue, unable to access web UI #1500

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

Network topology:
- main router (192.168.1.1)
- N-56U is designated to work as WiFi AP (192.168.1.2)

1. Flash ARIA nightly from 24.6.2015 via WiFi.
2. Try to change default LAN IP of web UI to 192.168.1.1, netmask 255.255.255.0
to prevent conflict with main router IP. Error message appears: "WAN and LAN
should have different IP addresses and subnets!". Default IP simply can't be
changed. Syslog says:

Dec 31 12:11:54 DHCP WAN Client: bound (eth3). ERROR! Obtained IP
[192.168.1.50/255.255.255.0] in LAN subnet [192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0]. Need
change LAN subnet!

3. Try to change WAN settings - the same javascript popup error message appears.
4. Set router to AP mode as a workaround while keeping default IP enables WiFi
internet access, but results in web UI inaccessible. External drives connected
to router are obviously inaccessible due to unknown IP although Windows machine
sees them as a part of WORKGROUP (they are accessible).

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: ability to change LAN IP of router
Actual: error message

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ARIA nightly from 24.6.2015

Original issue reported on code.google.com by project....@gmail.com on 25 Jun 2015 at 1:36

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Solved:
1. Use a cable, not wifi to update.
2. Assign a static IP within router's range (e.g. 1.100)
3. Change router's IP in the web UI.

Please add a small note to UI so users actually know what to do in this case.

This is invalid bug report. WAN and LAN subnets must be different. This is main
rule.
