A suggestion from the workshop that could handle a lot of the issues that get raised about uncertainty and such for character states:
Add an optional "notes" field on character instances.
Comments from participants:
(1) Add a field to add additional information about characters (for example, number of secondary veins, teeth only on upper half of leaf, etc). (DP)
(2) Add a “notes” under each heading of character descriptions to allow additional information to be added for each character state. For example, under venation adding a note about the number of veins and the vein angle. The advantage of this is that when doing a query the notes will be associated with each character state, rather than just in the generic notes section. (DP) [Dori: this would be very valuable - not sure how the implementation would work but worth considering. Maybe would be a “notes” field on the character instance.]
