Hello, this is a very useful plugin, is there a reason why it's not in the official Debian repo?

Mainly because I'm lazy. The process is somewhat complicated, and I haven't been bothered yet (and am unlikely to do so in the future). If you want to do so, the process is documented at http://wiki.debian.org/DebianMentorsFaq#How_do_I_add_a_new_package_to_the_archive.3F
