I wonder if freelance and story mode should actually be two different things. Freelance makes great sense for jobs that you pick and do individually, but story mode would be more of a predefined set of things with some order.
Yeah that's true. Maybe the story mode could be called Agency and we change the name of the player to player mode.
Crypto (name up for debate) at its core is a game about solving ciphers. We are starting with substitution ciphers, but want to add in more complicated ciphers.
Currently, there will be two major user experiences: (Buttons on Main Menu?)
Freelance Mode (aka story mode): The player is an agent who is a linguist and code breaker who previously worked for an agency, but is now working freelancer jobs. These jobs will be divided into "packs" that we create (quotes, popular sayings, etc) and jobs posted by other players (handlers after leveling up?). So, the player would buy a pack with in game currency and work these jobs in the pack. The ciphers would be hidden in museums and libraries (tombs?? :) ). Once you complete all jobs in the pack, you are able to deliver the message and complete the job. In game currency and experience will be earned by completing jobs. Free packs will be offered that are "easy" and then packs/jobs will require in game currency for travel outside of the country. There could be easy and hard modes, with easy being an on your own time and with hard mode having a timer "alarm on a museum exhibit."
Agency Eyes Only Mode (Player to Player Communication): In this mode, players can send encrypted messages to other players. This will cost a small amount of in game currency, but will require that the receiver of the message downloads the app.
There could also be a 3rd button on main menu titled "Debriefing" that includes instructions for the game and possible ciphers?
