chuche952's reasoning is fine by me, though I'm not sure it merits removing the simple one.
If the simple one was removed, beginners could still grow and cut default trees to get default planks. This would still be easier than building technic machines for the conversion.
Before removing the simple recipe, it would be prudent to check that there is a way to make sawdust out of sticks or ecoport ends up flooded with sticks ;P (or scaffolding)
chuche952 this will be much objected, but "(anywood)->4x sticks->default wood" recipe should be disabled; because technic added own way via "saw dust". And that common first recipe beats it in every way.

chuche952 Technic recipe requires technic machines to convert. Standard recipe directly converts sticks to other wood without any energy. It really depends if one wants to expand machine use case. But having two recipes makes no sense.

When I started my own world, it was a bit unfortunate and there were no trees nearby, but..... I spawned near a desert which was good to find sticks. I was only able to make tools because I was able to craft sticks into planks.
