panel-attack / panel-attack

Panel Attack is a free modern puzzle game inspired by popular games such as Tetris Attack and Pokemon Puzzle League while still maintaining authentic mechanics. Arrange colored panels in rows and columns of three or more to match matches that clear. Panels then fall from gravity and can make chains that give bonuses or attack the other player.

Create an option to always use your own music #589

Taken from #82 Entails adding a new option to the audio menu. Using that new option to override the music selection received from the server upon starting a 2p vs match in select screen.

Would it be better to just only have you pick the stage and then it would use your setting for stage vs character music to pick the music?

Endaris commented 2 years ago

That sounds pretty limiting and complicated to me. That would mean you cannot use the character music if there is no stage for it? And also actively require the player to opt-in to stage only music? I'm honestly not sure if we even want to implement it in the way loosely suggested on the crappy google sheet or if we want to implement fallback stage/character instead as I can imagine that part of the reason you want your own music is the annoyance of character/stage music frequently changing due to random selection and it's also a way of "your own selected music".

JamesVanBoxtel commented 2 years ago

Sorry I don't think I explained that right, basically I'm saying have an option to ignore the other player's stage choice altogether.

Endaris commented 2 years ago

I'm not sure why you'd want to ignore their stage choice but not their character choice (at least for music). Having to switch around multiple options to achieve this result seems complicated and that configuration would make it impossible to use your own character music or character + stage music 50/50.

JamesVanBoxtel commented 2 years ago

Oh I understand now. Always use your music no matter what, but the stage might be theirs with your stage music?

Going through the issues I realized that I created a duplicate (#726) for this one. Going to keep this one due to discussion.
