I'd be in favor of putting them in notes, as it is not clear whether they share the same sound correspondences. It's more likely that they do not, which is why they are in brackets (as indicated in the intro). How many entries are there with parenthesis in the form in total? I think Oliveira added some forms for "uncertainty", right?
In the original raw data they were almost 200, I'd say. Yes, for uncertainty the forms are placed between parenthesis. Right now, on the data modified raw_oliveira-mod.txt
, there shouldn't be any of these cases, since they were all replaced with **
. They did not had también
between the parenthesis, though. It may be just an inconsistency on the data, perhaps.
Ok, so when we start to work on the elements with parenthesis, we need to distinguish the cases with "también" and those without. Nice.
So should I just leave these entries as they are so we can distinguish them between the ones that were already replaced with the uncertainty mark?
Ah, so you already replaced all cases in () with **, so that we only have those cases with también
and other comments/sources in those parenthesis?
Sorry, I think I was confused about this step. If this is the case, then I would say we leave it as is, and fix the content of parenthesis all together, as they are all some form of comments. We could for example split the entry of "form" to separate everything that is within parenthesis now and add it to the Notes column. But if it is only 6 entries, this might as well be done manually at a later stage. Manually in Edictor. But that depends on how much entries there are with parenthesis in total.
Double asterisk is converted to a column in edictor indicating uncertainty.
Ah nice, I didn't know that.
Then, I think we can close this issue, @Tarotis and @LinguList?
Yes, and we add those entries manually to Notes (and then maybe to something else) in Edictor.
There are a few entries which specify other forms besides the first given in an entry for a language:
47. *ha[n]a[n]- ‘vomitar’ : Ksh aná- : SK -- : Kp hanán- (también kinán-) :
220. *mapo ‘cabeça’ : Ksh mapoʂɔɔ ‘cabeza’ (también maʂká;; juego 229)
325. *pɨʔi ‘asa;; pena’ : Ksh pɨi (también pɨtʃi)
328. *pia ‘flecha’ : Ksh pia ‘flecha’ : SK pia ‘flecha’ : Kp piʔa ‘arco’ (posiblemente de *pia <<flecha>> + *ʔa- <<hacer>>;; juego 1) : Mar -- : Ch pia ‘flecha’ : Kax piˈya [piˈja] ‘flecha’ (LANES;; 2005) : Yam pia, piã ‘flecha’ : Chan pia : Shar pia, pian ‘flecha’ : Shan pia ‘flecha’ : Kat pia ‘flecha’ : Poy -- : A piya I : Kn pia ‘flecha’, **haʃi ‘lanza;; arpón;; lanza’ : M pia (también káɸiti)
337. *piti ‘comida (coisa de comer)’ : Ksh piti : SK piti ‘alimento de carne’ : Kp piti : Mar piti [ˈpītĭ] ‘comida’ : Ch pití ‘alimento de animales’ : Kax -- : Yam pitiɸo ‘comida’ (FAUST; LOOS;; 2002) : Chan piti ‘diente’ : Shar piti, pitin ‘diente;; comida’ : Shan piti : Kat piti : Poy -- : A piti (también hiriti II) ‘alimento’
449. *taʃi ‘sal’ : Ksh taʃi : SK taʃi : Kp taʃi : Ch -- : A taʃiI : Kn taʃi (también tɨwɨ;; dɨsu) : M taʃi
Since there are only 6 instances of this, maybe we can move this (the part in parenthesis) in the
Notes
column manually in EDCITOR?
