Contributing Android Imagery for OSM use #2

Hi, all.

Just found out about your project in an answer to my post, here:

https://github.com/kartaview/android/issues/188

I've contributed a lot of images to OpenStreetView, KartaView and now Mapilio.

  1. Is an Android equivalent planned for capturing imagery; the KartaView equivalent, per se? Maybe fork an existing app?

  2. How do we transfer previously contributed images from KartaView to Panoramax?

  3. Is the Panoramax imagery easily available to OSM, to improve mapping?

Thanks,

Chris chris_debian

Hello, thanks for your interest in Panoramax :grinning: To answer your questions :

  1. An Android (and iOS) app is in development, ongoing on this repo : https://github.com/nobelization/panoramax-mobile-app
  2. If you have any way to get your KartaView original pictures (JPEG with GPS + date EXIF tags), you can either send them using our command-line client or through the Panoramax OSM France server. Note that if you're in a country with a large enough OSM community, it might be interesting to create and host a Panoramax instance (we can help on that if necessary).
  3. For contributing to OSM, an iD support has been requested, and you have a direct "contribute to osm" link from our viewer : image Things may get easier in a near future with proper support in JOSM or iD

Best regards

Hi, Adrien.

Thank you for your helpful reply. I'll have a look at the GitHub repo, as I'd be keen to test the Android client, when a release is available. Open Source is important to me, so giving feedback and filing bugs can be expected from me.

I'll have to look at KartaView, to see whether I can download 1tb+ of imagery. It would be great if I could transfer them straight to the server, from KartaView.

Thanks,

Chris
