I have the same issue as well. Seems to wake fine but as soon as I do anything
at all I get a never-ending
beach-ball.

Yep, same. Any time it wakes from sleep it requires a hard reset (hold power
button)
to reboot. Never ending beach ball if I try to click on the menu bar at the top.

I suspect this is another issue with STEC drives. Users with Runcore drives in
the Mini 9 report sleep working. I also noticed that AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext in
my Mini9Ext folder has a zero files size, there's nothing in the kext except an
empty folder structure.

See here for a work-around. Seems like the patched version of
AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext inside IOATAFamily.kext is not getting loaded. Deleting
the copy in S/L/E makes it work again on 10.6.3 and 10.6.4.
