Sleep doesn't work #230

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install NBI 8.4 RC1
2. Install OSX 10.6.3
3.Try sleep by either a) closing lid or b) choosing sleep from apple menu
4. Wake by opening lid or resume button

What netbook are you using this on?
Dell Mini 9

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect normal wake from sleep. Instead, last seen screen returns but no
function - hangs or
freezes - cannot progress. Some odd menu items from drop down under airport
menu and/or
start-up/login items fail to load, e.g. iCal helper. Dock freezes. Cursor can
select apps but
nothing opens.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
NBI 8.4 RC1 and OSX 10.6.3

Please provide any additional information below.
Hard restart returns system to usable state. Updating NBI/repairing permissions
does not
improve situation.

I have the same issue as well. Seems to wake fine but as soon as I do anything
at all I get a never-ending
beach-ball.

Yep, same. Any time it wakes from sleep it requires a hard reset (hold power
button)
to reboot. Never ending beach ball if I try to click on the menu bar at the top.

I suspect this is another issue with STEC drives. Users with Runcore drives in
the Mini 9 report sleep working. I also noticed that AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext in
my Mini9Ext folder has a zero files size, there's nothing in the kext except an
empty folder structure.

We're coming to a similar conclusion in the Dell mini 9 discussion...

See here for a work-around. Seems like the patched version of
AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext inside IOATAFamily.kext is not getting loaded. Deleting
the copy in S/L/E makes it work again on 10.6.3 and 10.6.4.
