What steps will reproduce the problem?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
no "service battery" warning and the previous battery life of 2.5h.

I accidentally ran Software Update, when the machine was working perfectly
which, of course caused some issues with 10.6.8. I was forced to reinstall from
scratch, which took some fiddling. I found that NBI 0.8.5 Pre did not give me
audio nor wifi, so reinstalled 0.8.4. All hardware working correctly, and OS
seems stable again. Hibernation working.
Before my hiccup, the 3 cell battery gave over two hours of working time, but
since this install, the "service battery" warning is visible, and the battery
life seems to have dropped to under an hour. Since there is no PMU, that I am
aware of, on the 10v, I am lost for ways to rectify the issue.
