The Grouping stage of the Recognition Module is where the user finally assigns names to the groups of images. Here, they need the ability to specify the age of the individual when they assign the name. Like any Reco work, this will be recorded in the grouping database and then merged into the regular dtbs in the “Merge” tab, which will also need to be updated to ensure the information is written correctly into the regular database.
Before work on this begins, conversations should be had with people who use Recognition, to ensure we develop exactly what they need.
Important considerations:
when a user is identifying a new individual, the user should be able to select the age of the individual. this age will be applied to all images within the group (just like what we do for the ID and Gender)
when a user is identifying an existing individual (their image matches with an image in a previous dataset, so that individual already has a name), the user may still need to be able to select the age of the individual, or at least change the age from what it previously was for this new dataset. This is because an individual ages over time, so it is not always appropriate to assume the individual has the same age class as the previous time it was seen in another dataset.
