The vmware installation you specified is already patched. Uninstall the previous patch first, or delete the .unlocker file (not suggested). However, the unpatch button is gray and cannot be uninstalled

I think this happens if you install an updated version of VMware over the top of an existing patched installation. Deleting the hidden .unlocker file in the program folder will allow auto-unlocker to patch the new files.

Yes, exactly this I had always, when I updated Vmware Workstation to a newer version or just an Update. Deleting .unlocker and then it downloads the tools again (takes a while) but then worked.
