First of all, many thanks for providing this app. I've used it several times when testing remote syslog receiver configurations (rsyslog in my case).
I was happy to find that remote_syslog2 supports overriding the source hostname for forwarded messages, which seems to be a rare feature in syslog clients that I've come across thus far.
One thing that would make this application even more useful for testing: a "run once, then quit" command-line option.
