The UI stops functioning properly after a few hours of inactivity

The UI requires a manual refresh after not being used for a few hours.

Here are some effects of this issue:

No friends 😟 (if I was lucky enough to get to the screen that shows friends, it would not show them.)
No profile button
None of the buttons on the left-sidebar work

After a reload (View -> Reload), the UI functions as expected.
