We do need communications channels. I'm unsure about the abuse potential for any particular channel, except we should discourage phone numbers, so no WhatsApp.
It's always good to encourage encryption, but not sure it particular matters here. Afaik Wire and Matrix are the only popular messangers that provide good encryption, but do not require a phone number.
I doubt these have "off room invites" so like a reward payout could encrypt an invite, but without spamming the room.
I think it could play an important role in increasing the nominator-validator bond. Currently, the bond between them is minimal. The nominator usually doesn't hear about the validator's news - It's also hard for the nominator to contact the validator. I think that encouraging the creation of groups between the validator and their nominators would be excellent. Discord servers or TG groups could help a lot, they are one of the main social networks used by crypto users. I would love to see in the future where I can see the identity of an address in Polkadot JS-Apss (eg validator) and have their Telegram/Discord group appear.
