OpenOffice.org calc cannot read export xls #19

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use the provided example to create a new excel sheet, then save it as a
file stream, use PHP to send the bytestream as a xsl file to MS office
excel -- WORKS
2. attempt to repeat opening with Openoffice.org calc -- FAILS.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected open office calc to be able to open xls files as it always does
with all other excel files but not ones generated from as3xls. Open office
thinks it's a tab delimited file instead of a true excel spreadsheet. There
will be garbage before and after fields imported.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

as3xls 1.0, windows vista, Open office calc 3.0m9

Please provide any additional information below.

Switching encoding doesn't seem to fix this issue. But the same site works
as documented for excel applications.

hi i have the same issue , i use another office tools ,it names WPS ,it's for 
free . and when i open 
the .xls , it's show that: this file is in Microsoft Office 95 or earlier 
version format , please 
change it to Microsoft Office 97 first.

Is that as3xls API has this kind of properties or function to set xls version?

Same problem.  If I save a file with Excel to the 2.1 format, I can open that 
fine with OpenOffice Calc.  If I export a simple spreadsheet via as3xls, I can 
open if fine with Excel but not with Calc.

I can´t read an file .xls writing with as3xls, with:

google docs (web browser)
polaris offcies ( andorid 4 os )

the error is:

The spreadsheet you aregoolge docs or with  trying to upload is invalid.

note:
i attached the file.

can you help me?
