Honestly I thought with Eagle's newish ASCII encoded brd files, that there would be a lot of benefit for github revision tracking, but looking at it... it just seems to have changed everything about the file. Not very useful I guess for understanding what changed.

yeah agreed; it's great when you tweak a couple traces or a component, but when you move the whole board it's not all that helpful since it essentially changes the position of every single thing on the board...
