I had this problem and found that for some reason WCP was using the wrong
password when it tried to connect to the database. Similarly it was working on
one copy of the same site, but not the other. Very odd.

I am having the same problem with a Joomla 1.5.20 website WCP 1.0.1 with
Virtuemart. Error: 0 Cannot connect to the child database.

Paid special attention to the password for the database and no luck. I even
tried pointing the child db to a new db I created. no joy.

The only thing different about this site vs. other Joomla sites that WCP works
on is that this site runs Virtuemart.

BTW, I get the same "Cannot connect to the child database." error even if I
tell WCP to copy files and NOT copy database. ???

Any help would be much appreciated.
