FYI -- Gerald and I have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow to unblock this work.

Also, I hadn't originally intended on including any adjustments to the MBD API as part of this work. We should discuss whether it is time to graduate this endpoint from beta into V2. Would love your thoughts!
