What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

v2 on RH or Ubuntu Feisty

I am the author of gscan2pdf (http://gscan2pdf.sourceforge.net/), which can
use tesseract before embedding the output in a PDF or DjVu so that it can
be indexed.

fixed in revision 371 (only for autoconf-based builds, but I figure only Unix 
users 
will care about having a -v :)
