Instead of grumbling you could calm down, write a functioning script by yourself and share it with the rest of the world. All the people working on this are doing so in their spare time and still are so good to share the work and to read all the feedback.
just my 2c
That's cool thanks for your input........................but I didn't ask for it. I posted about it not working with Ubuntu 17.10 like another user has and it hasn't been answered either. This is a serious issue that needs to be fixed. More people feel comfortable using Ubuntu over Arch, and if Arch can make it fully functional then it should work with Ubuntu also. Don't come posting nonsense responses. Once everything is updated to work with Ubuntu 17.10 then I will write a script and share it with everyone.
My answer was not nonsense but a polite way to tell you that your post was unfriendly and harsh for no reason at all.
Look don't be such a millennial about it jeez.
Hello, try this script: https://gist.github.com/aijanai/8c01167354b48996641c3544c267d394. Works on 2015 model, Ubuntu 16.04.
If it doesn't work, then your MacBook is probably too new to be compatible with the kernel patches shipped on current Ubuntu and not much can be done at the moment.
In the name of trying to keep things civil, perhaps it would be best to be constructive. Thank you, @aijanai for the link to the script.
@lordxidious Has anything changed in the last 1.5 years with respect to this issue? Does it work now? Is this still an issue?
I have the same Macbook, and on Ubuntu 20.10 the driver works perfectly, calibration files and all. I think it's safe to close this issue.
This driver 100% does not work in Ubuntu 17.10 with the MacBook Air 7,2 (2017), but works perfectly on Antergos via AUR for the aforementioned system. I prefer Ubuntu for my MacBook and Antergos for my Dell. Before you try tell me I am doing something wrong or I didn't follow the guides properly you would be absolutely incorrect. 1.) The Ubuntu guide is garbage, and needs to be updated for the current release of Ubuntu, and separated from Debian. 2.) Make a script that does all this autonomously instead of having us go line by line in what seems to be a jumbled mess of thoughts and additional notes. 3.) Don't be so lazy as you stated in your guide.
