What version of Chrome are you using? On what operating system?
Chromium Version 26.0.1368.0 (174371)
OSX 10.8.2
What client (version?) are you connecting to? Are you using SSL?
rutorrent 0.8.9 (0.12.9), no SSL
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add a torrent via rta
2. notification: added successfully
3. torrent doesnt start in webUI. Its in the Pause status. Cant start it :(

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Start automatically?! Pause and no change. Can stop it. If I restart it it
switches to Pause status.

sounds to me like this might be a problem with r(u)torrent's configuration.
does automatic downloading/changing the status work when you manually add a
torrent using the rutorrent webui?

you've not posted your rutorrent version.

your rtorrent is 0.8.9, libtorrent 0.12.9; both of these are slightly old.
consider upgrading to more current versions. 0.9.3/0.13.3 from git work fine
for me with RTA and rutorrent 3.3, the recent stable rtorrent/libtorrent
versions probably work fine as well.

also, have you checked that there's enough disk space on the disk of your
download folder? does the UNIX user running rtorrent have write access to the
download folder? does the download folder exist?

k i found the problem: i connect via ftp but you need to write the complete
path in directory even when you connect in "deeper" directory :)

I'm having the exact same issue and I suspect that the same fix would work for
me, but I'm not sure what the complete path would be. Can anybody help me
figure that out? (I'm using a seed.st seedbox, and their WI uses rutorrent
0.8.9 (0.12.9).)

just shoot them a message and link them to this thread. you're paying for their
service, i'm sure they'll be happy to give you that information.

I tried that when I was having trouble configuring RTA originally, but they say
they don't support third-party extensions. I'm hoping it's something I can
figure out without them since RTA is such a great tool, but I'm a little
confused by what the original poster meant by "you need to write the complete
path in directory even when you connect in "deeper" directory" since I don't
know much about this stuff.

When I connect through Filezilla, I can copy the URL for the folder, and it's:
ftp://myusername@eut2n.seed.st/.rtorrent, but when I copy that to directory in
RTA options under WebUI Specifics (with https in pace of ftp), I still get the
"pausing" status.

yeah, it's paused because you can't supply a proper path. if you supply a path
to r(u)torrent, you need to use the ABSOLUTE path. so, while your ftp's
RELATIVE path is "/.rtorrent" which means that they're hiding the lower levels
of the file system (think folders that the .rtorrent folder is in), you
actually need to give rutorrent/RTA something like "/home/something/.rtorrent".
and i don't think there's any way for you to figure that out without them
giving you that information.

does it work if you don't supply a folder name (i.e. leave the field empty)? do
you supply any information when you add torrents manually via rutorrent?

Leaving the field empty did the trick - I hadn't realized it would work at all
without some kind of path specified there. Many thanks for the help!

cheers - and consider switching providers, they seem like douches
