Link sending not implemented #86

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Hi, I'm using Versión 31.0.1650.63 of Google Chrome on a Windows 7. My client
version is 1.1.10, I'm not using SSL and I'm trying to use it to add torrent
files to my Buffalo NAS.

About my problem:
1. Whenever I try to use a magnet link, I get this message: "CLIENT FAILURE:
Link sending not implemented (due to lack of testing equipment).
2. If I try to directly click on a torrent link, the message is this one:
"FAILURE: Server responded with an irregular HTTP error code: 0:"

What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

what webui "client" setting are you using? please try uTorrent WebUI.

Thanks for answering so quickly! I was using Buffalo WebUI (OLD!). I'm trying
uTorrent WebUI now, and I no longer get those failure messages. But... now it
doesn't do anything at all. It doesn't add any torrent to my download list or
anything.

I'm not a computer expert, but I have an idea: I actually have uTorrent
installed on my computer, and right now it isn't working either (I mean,
whenever I click on a magnet link it won't go to my Buffalo Torrent Client, but
it wouldn't open uTorrent either). I'll try uninstalling uTorrent, I'll let you
know if it worked, but just in case this is a stupid idea (and I know it can
be), do you know what else could I try?

Thanks again!

from the way you word your second paragraph, i'd appreciate if you could look
over the other settings in RTA again and determine whether you're absolutely
sure you put in the correct values.

i'm not super sure that RTA still works with buffalo linkstations, but there
was a guy complaining about this some time ago who got it to work using the
uTorrent setting, which prompted me to include it in the
FrequentlyAskedQuestions.

Alright, this is what I get:

Client: uTorrent WebUI
Host: I've checked it, it's the one my Buffalo provided me (I'm not sure, but I
guess I'd better not post it here... if I'm wrong, just tell me)
Port: Here we have a problem. I was using 6881 port in my BitTorrent client and
the RTA had automatically set the 6883 port. This is why I wasn't getting any
messages; but when I match these ports, I get the following: "Problem getting
the XHR token. Is uTorrent running?" and "Server responded with an irregular
HTTP error code: 400: Invalid request"
SSL: I have it unchecked, since I'm not using SSL. I tried checking it, just in
case I was getting it wrong, but still didn't do anything.
Username: admin (the one my Buffalo Torrent client uses)
Password: this field is unfilled, as usual.
Relative Path: /gui/

So... as far as I understand, if I use the correct values for everything, I'll
get two failure messages, while if one of my values is incorrect I'll get
nothing at all. At least this seems to help identifying if anything's not
correct, but that still leaves me with the first problem: how do I make it work?

Thanks again!

- host should be an ip, something like "123.45.67.189"
- port needs to be the port of the webui, not the bittorrent client's
bittorrent port.
- remove relative path. that's just for reverse proxying or non-standard urls
of webuis. /gui/ is the standard value if nothing is entered.
- you don't enter a password to get into the buffalo bittorrent webui? that's
dangerous, but i don't think it should hinder RTA's execution. try setting one
anyway.

the best way to figure out these values is to look at the URL of the webui of
your torrent client in the browser.

if it looks like this:
http://123.45.67.189/gui/

then you have host 123.45.67.189, port 80, relative path "/gui/" or empty.

Alright, status update:

1- I added a password. As you said, it shouldn't affect at all, but just in
case...
2- My URL looked something like this: "http://123.45.67.189:1234/gui/", so I
figured out my host was going to be the 123etc sequence (I already had that),
but the port would be the four number sequence after the colon.
3- I removed the relative path.

So now I try it again... and it works perfectly both with torrent download
links and magnet links! So thanks a lot, now using my Buffalo NAS is way
easier! Please consider this issue solved, I hope if anyone else has the same
problem that I had they'll find help in this conversation!
