How can I make digiYiiKam work in remote NAS?

My collection are located on my laptop and self-built NAS. The laptop generates and modifies digikam colleciton and database, which are synced to NAS. Because NAS is always online, I prefer digiYiiKam to be there.

But now, if digiYiiKam locates on NAS, mismatched collection path could issue read failure.

I am considering below strategies:

• Use digikam database only without access to actual images. digiYiiKam convect thumbnails from digiKam into its database.
• Enable to override collection root folder on digikam database.
• Just use the same collection direction both two devices, by soft link.

Hi, in case you only have RAW files (CR2, CR3, NEF) you could run the digiYiiKam thumbnail creation against the NAS digiYiiKam host. The generated jpeg preview files would be used by your NAS digiYiiKam host. Of course, the path to your images from the laptop will not be correct in digiYiiKam...
