Little suggestions #4

Thanks for the suggestions!

Configuring arm visuals doesn't appear helpful to me, and it introduces nonfunctional inconsistencies with experience.

Hovering isn't something I plan to add unfortunately, because these wings are not meant to be like creative flight, or any form where the player is free to hover to be able to perform particular tasks.

Sounds for flapping are something I plan to add, but I wouldn't have them be configurable. The normal sound category settings exist and Dynamic Surroundings can provide the specific configuration if needed.

Tricks are something I've also thought about, it would work by sequences of direction keys, and an emote would be a particular trick.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback.

I would also like to see an hover, but I understand how it's not meant to be creative flight. Maybe adding a config that disables hover on default, but could be enabled?

Azvalk commented 6 years ago

yeah, to avoid "op" things, just do it so it's configurable ^^ I've suggest hover because anyway, there is the hunger consumption, and.. it's simply for looking cool.. For saying the all thing, I'm admin of a server in construct, and the world is fragmented, in the sky, there are aerial playable species.. so.. your mod will be so amazing for our players +.+ I make suggestions because I try to see all the potential of this mod that is already great ^^

Me again ^^ I just tested something.. look at this.. this is during a fall with mo bends-1 with mo bends-2 This class +.+ This is what I mean by positioning arms and legs with a little spacing during hover or voluntary fall / landing. Of course mo'bends add knee and elbow, but, just with the spacing I think it will be okay.

Without mo'bends: without mo bends

Personnaly, even if I love the result with mo'bends, I cannot use it, because I use MorePlayerModel, and Backpacks, which are not compatible with it..

So, it will be awesome if you could add a little "equivalent vanilla pose"..

Oh, and have you consider of making wings that have slight transparency ? Like, these ^^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBwvaHKTrgo&feature=youtu.be&t=53

New suggestions ^^

Of course they would still exist in their final form in the creative inventory.

This would give wings, directly equipped, to a player, and at a certain stage of growth. Useful on servers who want to integrate this on their own ... for example with custom npc.

I also would like to see hover, sounds nice to have.

SynexWolf commented 6 years ago

Wow, that's a lot suggestions, but they all sound amazing! :D

Just saying, I'd love to have hovering as a config option at least. Maybe make it an "imperfect hover" to balance it, I.E. you kinda move up and down and side-to-side a little bit to make precise things difficult, and perhaps make it take a LOT of hunger/durability/etc. (as hovering is generally pretty unnatural for wings unless you're a hummingbird or dragonfly) Could even make it so SOME wings (bug type wings, fairy-like wings) are good at hovering stably for more time with less cost, but much slower when actually flying around. More "friction" in air, more controllable, but less speed. The bird/batlike wings on the other hand could be way faster in-air, take less hunger to fly around, but be unstable and exhausting to maintain hovering. Maybe also have it so if you take damage while hovering, it damages your wings and makes you land.

All of this, of course, being configurable.

The idea of having wings need to grow over time, as mentioned above by Azvalk, is a nice idea too. Only able to have short bursts of flight at first, getting tired out easily, much like the wings of a baby bird, to slowly grow into powerful wings by using them.

Can you change durability in the configs?

stangeronline2737 commented 5 years ago

I think you should be able to dye your wings any color (or at least primary colors and black and white) With the option to make the dye permanent to make it feel like that is just the color of your wings. (Again depending on configs)
