Intuitively, the weaknesses of IIE compared to expert systems might also be their strengths: they're fuzzier and so harder to get to work and derive what you want, but they're also flexible and can accommodate and generalize better new situations.

One thing this unification looses is the field theory as a primitive, to focus more on the entailment/laws part. Intuitively that seem to remove a crucial part of why deontic arrays could work in the real world.
