Parametric Ecologies

Questions that I ask myself when considering the value of an analogy:

What is the core of the analogy (the actual correspondence part) and which part don't fit or work?
How much do we know about the analogy? Here, how much do we know about evolutionary biology that could be used and transferred? I know at least one person that was disappointed by our lack of understanding of the fine points of evolution for applications to alignment.
What are the most promising applications of the analogy at first glance? What do we expect to yield low-hanging fruits? That serves to guide the initial exploration.
