Suggestions made by Jem/Mothman 2 as addition to my concepts:

Comments on it:

  1. : So one of the ideas i had for the nightwood was a big mushroom that can be used as a shield against the spiders. Either carried around or just placed. I figured it kinda interfered with the danger of the biome so i wanted to run it by you before doing more detailed art.

  2. : I tried doing em in colored pencil to match your style a bit, make all the concept art for together. Also i realized halfway through making the goldensword that it looks kinda like the poison bud but didn’t wanna give up on it so sorry about that. Anyway i’m gonna go ahead and retype all the notes around the plants cause my handwriting is terrible. The little plant near the bottom is called the... I just called it the Archeon Succulent. when it comes to naming things i tend to have all the creativity of a slab of concrete. I personally imagine the red caps being 3-D, but as always i’m open to interpretation. It’s less than a block tall, and in addition to generating naturally, it can be grown using bonemeal on the savannah groundcover, like flowers. When broken without shears, it drops it’s caps, which are edible and restore a little bit of hunger. The one on the right is called the “Legit didn’t even come up with a name for this one”, and I put a lot more effort into making it than naming it. It has multiple generation styles, kinda of like the mushroom firs of betternether. When broken, it drops a stem variant of the archeon tree wood, which can be crafted into one archeon plank. It also drops saplings to grow more of it. I’d imagine this plant also being 3D, so the player can climb it by jumping from the red bushy parts They can also bounce on it a little, kind of like beds. The red part specifically makes the nether watt block sound Height ranges between 3-6 blocks The plant on the far left is my favorite, the Goldensword. It’s formed by a cluster of many succulent-like leaves, and one tall bushel or flowers. It grows from seeds placed on the groundcover, and goes through 5 stages. All stages generate naturally. The stages are sprout, young, budding, flowering, and seeding. Sprout is a teeny lil guy that you get when you first plant the seeds. Breaking it will only drop the single seed it was grown from. Young is about a block tall, and yields the same single seed, as well as 0-1 Goldensword Leaves. These leaves can be crafted into Golden Thatch, a block that spiders and similar mobs cannot climb. Budding drops it’s seed and 1-2 leaves. Anyway flowering plants drop 1-3 leaves, and are around 3 blocks tall. As long as the plant is in this stage, it functions as a very low-level light source. The final stage, seeding, is when the plant starts to die. It will drop 1-3 dried leaves, which cannot make thatch, but can be used as furnace fuel. This is the only stage that drops multiple seeds. I based this plant heavily off the Hale’akala Silversword, a critically endangered plant native to Hawai’i. The idea for the spider-proof thatch came from the real-life plant being covered in tiny hairs to prevent bugs from crawling on it.
