In case a channel has a shift relative to the other channels (e.g., a source device lagged behind), it would be nice to be able to shift it back/forward to be in sync again.
Something like the following could work:
store .offset per channel
ch.shift_valid(-1) adds 1 to the offset.
ch.shift_valid(+1) subtracts 1 from the offset.
set .offset directly
offset is taken into account when calculating intersections, etc.
