I think I need to update staging with all of my user account related work up until yesterday. Is this okay to do?

Can we discuss the best deployment process on Tuesday when I'm in, Im not entirely sure of the best way to handle branches and what have you through GitHub.

Regarding the process sure, we need to get that right because we will also need to have something similar in production. About the update, ideally I will prefer not be able to access endpoint not ready in staging / production, but at this moment if this is the way to get the search working go for it.
