unable to locate .hosts file #179

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.start the basic trouble shoot
2.
3.but i don't know if its a me problem or a vlc bug

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
edit the host file to be o.o.o.o. Instead, there is no such file or directory 
known as .hosts

What version of VLC Remote are you using?
latest (just got it off the market, though i am gingerbread)

What version of VLC are you using?
2.0.3 Twoflower

What version of Android are you using?
Gingerbread

Which Android device are you using?
Samsung Galaxy Epic (from sprint)

Please provide any additional information below.
I have no idea why i don't have this file. running ubuntu.. *shrugs*

It's not that difficult, seriously. Try googling a bit before creating a bug 
report. Here's a guide for how to set everything up in ubuntu (and as you will 
see, the .hosts file is at /usr/share/vlc/lua/http/.hosts ):
