Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

It would be great if we could have the ability to select what folder on the
computer 'home' goes to.

My movies are on another drive then my the My Documents folder so as it
stands right now I have to navigate through 5 diff screens to get to my
movies.. UGH!

Good idea. It might even be nice to have bookmarks.

I agree that this would be nice.
But creating symlinks in your home directory is a very easy workaround. (I
guess
shortcuts will give the same result in Windows)

Sadly VLC Remote doesn't recognize Windows Shortcuts, I'm guessing its because
VLC
Remote is really a linux app.

Symlinks can be created in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Open cmd and try:

Symlink of a file:
mklink "destination" "source"

Symlink of a directory:
mklink /D "destination" "source"

This kind of symlink shows as a shortcut in Explorer but also shows in VLC.

Be careful when deleting symlinks in Windows! Some programs might not recognize
that
it is a link and will delete the contents of the original folder! To make sure
that
doesn't happen, rename the original folder before deleting the symlink.

As of version 0.3.6, you can long-press the "Home" button to set the home
directory to the currently
opened directory.
