Adding server on HTC Hero crashes VLC Remote #9

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Power on HTC Hero with firmware 1.5 (build 2.73.405.5 146733 CL#61267)
2. Install and run VLC Remote 0.2.7 beta from market
3. Press menu
4. Press Settings
5. Either add a server, or wait for scan to find it, then add it

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the VLC Remote program to connect to the server. Instead it
crashes and restarts with the message "Sorry! The application VLC Remote
(process org.peterbaldwin.client.android.vlcremote) has stopped
unexpectedly. Please try again"

What version of VLC Remote are you using?
0.2.7 beta

What version of VLC are you using?
1.0.1 goldeneye

What version of Android are you using?
1.5 on HTC Hero (latest firmware version)

Which Android device are you using?
HTC Hero.

Please provide any additional information below.
HTTP Remote interface is working both from browser on machine (Win
Vista64bit) and from android webbrowser.

Could you please reproduce the crash and send the system log?

You'll need an app like this:

It looks like a bug/inconsistency between the HTC Hero and the stock Android 
ROM in
the Uri building module.  

Can you please give v0.2.8 a try?
