transmission wasnt enough for me, so i installed pyLoad on my ns-k330 and now i
can download from rapidshare easly
it has nice web interface, and it causes high cpu load but its worth it

if you want to install it, you should install debian chroot first, and download
many pakages.

here is an undetailed guide i wrote:
(you need to write it all in debian)
cd /opt
wget http://get.pyload.org/static/pyload-v0.4.3-noarch.deb
dpkg -i pyload-v0.4.3-noarch.deb
***now it will try to install but it will tell you that you need to install
some pakages first, and it will tell you to write "apt-get install", so do
that..
apt-get install unzip
apt-get install screen
apt-get install nano
wget
http://ubuntu.secsup.org//pool/main/p/python-django/python-django_1.2.3-1ubuntu0
.1_all.deb
dpkg -i python-django_1.2.3-1ubuntu0.1_all.deb
wget http://get.pyload.org/static/pyload-src-v0.4.3.zip
unzip pyload-src-v0.4.3.zip
python /opt/pyload/pyLoadCore.py

i assisted this guide: http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=21844
here is a picture of pyLoad:
http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/1886/12308100.png

maybe you should integrate it in the next version of snake-os

Hi there.
I am really interested on pyLoad for my little nas. but my Linux knowledge is
really poor and I can´t make it work with your instructions.

I installed debian following the wiki instructions. Then chroot to debian, cd
to opt folder, donwload pyload (new version 0.4.5) and instalation fails as you
said.

But my trouble starts when I tried to install unzip, screen and nano. This
installation packages fails too (dependences not installed) and the can´t make
pyLoad work.

Anyone can help me with the process?
Anyway to install this packages with all the dependences at the same time?

Integrate this in the snakeos firmware would be really cool !!!

try apt-get install. Type Y when asked.
If it asks to try apt-get -f install. Do it.
Then try apt-get unzip, screen and nano.
If everything is ok, do:
wget
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/p/python-support/python-support_1.0.12_al
l.deb
dpkg -i python-support_1.0.12_all.deb
wget
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/p/python-django/python-django_1.2.5-1_all
.deb
dpkg -i python-django_1.2.5-1_all.deb

Then do the rest as in the guide above:
wget http://get.pyload.org/static/pyload-src-v0.4.3.zip
unzip pyload-src-v0.4.3.zip
python /opt/pyload/pyLoadCore.py

Thanks for the answer, but sadly, It still doesn´t work.

When I try to install unzip after the apt-get -f install, I have this:

You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:

It seems your /etc/resolv.conf in debian is not configured. You have to add
your DNS server after nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf in debian etc. Try 8.8.4.4
(google) if you don't know which one is yours.

It this is not the case, try: apt-get -f install --fix-missing

Thanks for your answer.
If I open resolv.conf this is what I have:
nameserver 62.42.230.24
nameserver 62.42.63.52

This two are my ISP´s (ONO (Spain)) DNS numbers. Downloading works because the
wget command download files correctly

Anyway, I edited it to:
nameserver 8.8.4.4
nameserver 62.42.230.24
nameserver 62.42.63.52

Then tried apt-get -f install --fix-missing
But, the result was the same :(

If I try to manualy download from my internet browser a deb package from
security.debian.org

Same problem with security.debian.org here. Don't know what I did other than
that. Just managed to install it by doing some of the commands I've told you.
But you can also try downloading latest pinguino7 debian package. Google
"Donwload image by pinguino7" with quotations. You'll find 2 links for parts 1
and 2 right on the first link (don't need to open the page). Remember to rename
your current debian folder and try this newer one. I have both installed, but
I'm using the older one though which is lighter (from Downloads section at
SnakeOS google code site).

I've solved this Chroot problem.

Just edit your sources.lst and make debian use lenny repositories these work
for me).

Backup your data previously

Can someone send me the whole Debian folder "ready to use" with pyload in a

Is possible to do this?

apt-get update OK

apt-get dist-upgrade NO,

Instead,
apt-get upgrade After that it sais that coudn't install packages and whe
should execute apt-get -f (more or less, I don't remember exactly. As comment
5)

After that You can use apt-get "name-of-thing-you-want-to-install"

apt-get -f install --fix-missing
apt-get install unzip

Ok

I looked at your source.lst

and mine is

# See sources.list(5) for more information, especialy
# Remember that you can only use http, ftp or file URIs
# CDROMs are managed through the apt-cdrom tool.
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian lenny main contrib non-free
# deb http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US stable/non-US main contrib non-free
# deb http://security.debian.org stable/updates main contrib non-free

# Uncomment if you want the apt-get source function to work
#deb-src http://http.us.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US stable/non-US main contrib
non-free

Only one line is enabled, the first one under CDROM.

The problem could be that you have lenny and testing enabled.

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ lenny main non-free contrib
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free

and you can comment all lines with "dev-src" as I guess that you won't be
compiling anything from source.

I tried with your source.lst config with no luck.
May be, the best idea can be to delete the debian folder, reinstall it and
start again from cero (modifing only the source.lst file), because many changes
where made from the original debian.

Will say you something.

Many, many thanks.

Yeah, finally working :)
As I said, delete debian folder, reinstall it and config source.lst with
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian lenny main contrib non-free

Thanks you all!!!

Now, pyload is configured, tested and all is going fine, but...
I connect to the nas using putty and then chroot and start pyload.
But when I close putty... pyload stops o_O
How can I keep it runing in the nas without my pc powered on?

use "nohup" and "&"

Example: "nohup program-to-run options-of-the-program &"

It will send it to background "&" and it will keep it running until it finishes
or snake reboots "nohup"

python /opt/pyload/pyLoadCore.py --daemon

Tried everything and can't install pyload. Already removed the debian folder,
reinstalled and changed the sources.lst to lenny.
Then pyload can't download due to version being 0.4.9. So I changed the command
lines to the following:
- wget http://get.pyload.org/static/pyload-v0.4.9-all.deb
- dpkg -i pyload-v0.4.9-all.deb
After that I keep going, proceeded with the apt-get unzip, screen and nano.

When I try to complete the following I get errors, however:
wget
http://ubuntu.secsup.org//pool/main/p/python-django/python-django_1.2.3-1ubuntu0
.1_all.deb

And this is where I'm stuck, unfortunatelly.
Also, the above .deb file for pyload is ok, or it HAS to be the "0.4.3 noarch"
version?

Thanks!

Can all this procedure converted into a single opk file for installing from the
Web GUI of snake-OS ?

I think that'd be possible, bundling python is just a bit of a hassle.

digaum2003:
Newer versions of pyload don't need django anymore

A while back I posted a different way to get pyload working on the mailinglist:
