See MIDI Tuning Standard and Scala file format.

Additional info: 31ET is fun.

I'm just trying Tunefish right now on an old laptop running Linux. This thing is super small, light on the CPU, and sounds amazing.

Is there any chance that microtonal scales will be supported in the future? Currently there are a few good options for microtonal scales - usually involving a tuning file that the user loads directly into the instrument. Examples include AnaMark TUN (.tun), Scala (.scl/.kbm), and MIDI Tuning Standard tuning dump (.mid). Or at the very least, it would be nice for users to be able to edit the tuning table of the synth manually.
