I can confirm it does this. And it can also mess up some defaults in other programs... like in my case, BBEdit. Not that a big deal but if I had not seen this post, I would have most likely pulled my hair out figuring this out. So thank you!
This script works great, and leave it to Microsoft to not provide an uninstaller, or make you do it the hard way.
You probably may also need to move things from /Library/Fonts Disabled
(~/Library/Fonts Disabled
) back to /Libary/Fonts
. For some reason office 2011 removes arial, verdana, and a few other fonts and supplies its own copy.
After running the uninstall tool on several Macs in my office, users started to notice that fonts in their web browsers had changed.
We eventually tracked this down to the uninstaller disabled some fonts.
I used Font Book.app, took a screenshot before running the tool, then again after, and the following fonts got disabled:
Happily it was just a matter of re-enabling them to get things working again.
