Daily report terminated? #1234

Open gaspart opened 1 year ago

gaspart commented 1 year ago

Type of issue: request for information

Summary

Will you also switch from daily to weekly reports? The Health Ministry announced today that they will stop issuing daily CoVID-19 reports, and only provide weekly reports

Public interest

All the various dashboards in the last 2.5 years are based on the daily report, the switch to weekly would complicate comparisons. I hope daily data will still be available somewhere somehow. Continuity is important! :)

Thanks for the splendid work so far, by the way. Gaspar

Good question. Looking forward to knowing more about that.

As of today, there will be no more daily report updates.

floatingpurr commented 1 year ago

I guess that, at least, they are gonna explain in advance what the new weekly data format looks like. Will they keep updating same files just on Fri? Will they introduce new files? Please, explain that.

Hi, I'm an ordinary Italian citizen. I don't work in the health sector, but this project was very important to me: it helped me understand what was really happening in Italy, how the pandemic was being dealt with. It helped me not to panic because of news headlines and to see things from an objective point of view. Removing this daily tool means not only weakening the health system, but also making people like me more vulnerable to media campaigns, whether they are aimed at reassuring the population or terrorizing them. Please re-enable daily monitoring.

I perfectly agree with what said above. Moreover, I think it's very bad that the repository managers are not publishing any information. This is an official repository, not someone's personal hobby.

the data is still there. there are online platforms from the government to view the data which are not github. if you are interested in viewing the raw data, you can use the "find to file" functionality or learn how to clone a git repository

Yes, the data are still there. However, they are no more provided on a daily basis, but all together on a weekly basis. This is the original issue from @gaspart, and it's still there.
