Polar M400 #40

I have a Polar M400 arriving tomorrow. It would be cool to get this software working with bipolar too, as I understand it is built on a similar platform as the V800. Anything special I need to know to start playing with this?

Hi @dtougas,

I would expect most of the M400 functionality to work as is, since it presumably uses the same REST-like API between Polar FlowSync and the flow.polar.com site. But I haven't tested, since I don't have an M400.

I'd be very interested in hearing your results. Let us know if it works or not, and if not, I'd be very interested in getting some data files so I can add support

Cheers,

pc.

OK, the M400 just arrived tonight. I will have to work out with it before I try downloading the data. I will let you know how it goes.

I completed a workout and did a test this afternoon. I installed Bipolar and the hook (on a Mac). I was able to verify the hook was installed in the correct location by looking at the contents of my FlowSync app. I see the old version re-named, and the new version in its place.

When I sync, I cannot seem to find the output files anywhere. I looked under Library/Application_Support/Polar/etc... but those directories were not there. So one of two things is happening: either the files are being put somewhere that I cannot see, or there is something not working properly.

As a side note, was able to successfully download the workout in all formats using v800_downloader.

Any thoughts as to why my install of Bipolar might not be working right?

Hi @dtougas,

Glad the v800_downloader worked.

Can you cut-and-paste the output of the Bipolar GUI?

There's a newer hook not yet included in the Bipolar dmg (it will be in the next release). If you try the new hook it will log a lot of useful info that should show why the data files are not being picked up.

Unfortunately, the new hook is not included in an installer yet, so you have to install it manually. Since you're on Mac, you just have to drop the OSX framework file over the top of $FLOWSYNC_APP/Contents/Frameworks/QtNetwork.framework/Versions/5/QtNetwork - this is exactly what the install.command script does (as well as backing up the original file).
