When viewing toots in any of the modals their creation time relative to the current time is shown in an abbreviated format (i.e. 3w for “3 weeks ago”).
However, the distinction between “minutes” and “months” is misleading, as both of them are abbreviated to a lowercase “m, m, illustrated by this toot that’s 3 months old (screenshot taken on the 25th of September, 2018):
My suggestion would be to use m for minute intervals (e.g. 3m for “3 minutes ago”) and M for monthly intervals (e.g. 3M for “3 months ago”). This also matches the behavior of the main Mastodon web client.
