We are continuing working on the labels for the ATLAS dataset, and have
been discussing how to better label the "differenced" images (images
with static sources/background stars subtracted to reveal transients and
moving objects). As I understand, there is no dedicated attribute for
this property, so users might have difficulty in, e.g. only looking for
differenced images. I know that many transient/solar system surveys
generate differenced images as a by-product, so we might encounter this
issue again in future survey archival.
Since this is mostly used in surveys, it seems survey dictionary might
be the best place for it. What would you think about it? Would it be
possible to add this attribute in the next survey dictionary update?
