List of Backup Speakers #9

Open edunham opened 7 years ago

edunham commented 7 years ago

We should have some talks on hand for instances when our originally planned speaker has to cancel.

Please comment in this issue if you would like to be a backup speaker for the meetup. Include the name you should be announced as, and the titles of any talks you'd be comfortable giving.

Listing yourself here doesn't commit you to speaking at any particular time; it just means you might sometimes be contacted to see whether you're available.

Thanks!

Call me "Bart Massey". Absolutely happy to talk anytime. Here's a couple of easy topics, although I have some other things in the works that I could finish given a week or two.

@matthewkmayer would you like to speak on November 1st about Rusoto?

matthewkmayer commented 7 years ago

Sure thing! Do either of the proposed themes sound more appealing than the other?

Personally, the former excites me more, but the latter would also be good to hear as well!

@matthewkmayer I have a slight preference for the Rusoto talk, spun toward "how to use Rust for AWS stuff", as I think it'd be relevant to the greatest number of our attendees... though if you'd prefer to talk about helper tooling, that would be great as well. Do you have a short abstract for what you'd like to talk about, or shall I write you one? :)

matthewkmayer commented 7 years ago

How about "the journey with Rust and AWS?" This would allow me to cover how Rusoto came about, what it's like working on it, how it works as well as examples of how it can be used. Hopefully I can track down some people to give me more info about how they're using it in the wild. 😄

Is this still on for Wednesday? I haven't seen any publication for the event in the usual spots such as This Week in Rust or on Meetup.com. Happy to schedule for a later time.

@matthewkmayer yep, it's on, I've just been remiss in filing the paperworks :)

Edit: Voila, it's more official now! http://calagator.org/events/1250472756 Thanks for your patience with my disorganized organizing.
