Did you went with portableapps menu functionality to pin to taskbar?
Thank you for this suggestion. Yes, I have tried to use PortableApps menu to pin Zotero. This worked well with Zotero 6 (namely, Zotero Portable 6.0.36). However, for Zotero 7, two icons will appear.
That's probably related to the fact that it hasn't been updated to Zotero 7 officially. I do not know what's happening. I'll ask John.
Well, Zotero 7.0.5 was release and the issue persists. I asked on portableapps forums as I don't know where it comes from: https://portableapps.com/node/71620
I'll update the icon asap since Zotero 7 has changed it.
Thank you very much for this update and the continuous support. Perhaps the reason is that zotero.exe of version 7 is a 64-bit application, while version 6 is 32-bit). The launcher of PortableApps, i.e., ZoteroPortable.exe, is 32-bit, which may be incompatible with Zotero 7 in the platform of PortableApps.
Well, I quote John who investigated the issue:
I've removed the ability to pin Zotero Portable to the taskbar via the PA.c Platform in 7.0.7 which is mirroring now. Zotero doesn't seem to respect any of the registry keys to handle it the way Firefox does.
John's comment on portableapps forum
So I close the issue, but unfortunately, it's not possible anymore in zotero 7
Thank you very much for the update to Zotero 7. I found a bug when pinning ZoteroPortable.exe to to taskbar. As shown in this figure, two icons appear in the taskbar after pinning ZoteroPortable.exe to it.
