Newsletter subscription seems easy enough, but we could embed it on the site itself- maybe once someone is signed in it can be a one-button option in the acct. area to subscribe and unsubscribe, which runs the process for all lists available to that user. (Obvious?)
Bullet-points for presentation! Presenters like guidelines for the shpiel. (+ FAQs; Screencast)
?Does the screencast need to be refurbished? Isn't that what Mitar said at meeting 1?
Newsletter is already on the site itself (click in the right bottom). Everyone who is currently registered is also added to the newsletter automatically. Configuration of that we will do later.
Yes, we don't have a screencast, that's another ticket: #34
Business cards: http://us.moo.com/products/business-cards.html - Moo is nice, plus pretty cheap, plus tons of templates that are ready to use (I like this one: http://us.moo.com/design-templates/business-cards/pack/on-target.html). Do we have a design for business cards (logo for the front)? Also a problem: what to write on them? Whose name and contact info?
We have a logo, but we don't yet have it in any nice form. There is a wiki page for it, but it is still empty: https://github.com/peerlibrary/outreach/wiki/Media-Materials
We should add to the repository all files needed for design (logo and stuff) and then link them from the wiki.
One idea for business cards was that we could also make it so that one side is official UC Berkeley side, another is PeerLibrary side. We could also make one without UC Berkeley side at all, if somebody does not like it. PeerLibrary side could be without a name, so that we can make the same for all. But if you would like UC Berkeley one, we would have on that side a name and stuff.
I believe Berkeley side is great - it adds to our credibility :) So we need someone who would be ready to take care of PL logo and design a simple business card. Who has experience designing business cards or logos?
@Retronator: Can you prepare all files for logo and other related things and add them into a directory of this repository? So if we are using custom fonts, add them. If we have some color scheme to use, document it in the wiki:
Uploaded my files.
Perfect, thanks!
Which font/typeface are we using for logo title? Should we use that for tagline as well?
I have obtained official font, and seals are available here. See how official business cards look like.
Now we can make one side look official UC Berkeley, another PeerLibrary. Who would design them?
So, after more thought I would just do PeerLibrary cards. Without any UC Berkeley seals and stuff. So that they can be used also by members of PeerLibrary who are not at UC Berkeley. Otherwise if feels a bit strange to have two types of them.
@spencerhitch, so please design this. I would use the same font as we are using in PeerLibrary (Fira Sans). In this repository you can find logo to use.
Make the card in SVG, so that we can then easily find/replace values with a shell script for each of us, before we generate a PDF for printing.
You decide what all to include on the card, but it could be only one sided and stuff like PeerLibrary tagline, website, PeerLibrary Twitter handle, and then maybe a name of a person, and e-mail address of a person. Maybe we could also provide space for each of us to put whatever they want as a position? I wouldn't have that, but maybe others would like to. :-)
Business card task moved to #133.
Once we have funding we can order the other swag. In general we need:
Do we have Screencast video or Slides posted somewhere?
The video was posted on Linkedin and Angellist, and also on Tumblr if I am correct. Slides are probably on Drive?
At Mozilla Festival we will probably be presenting PeerLibrary by a local volunteer. It is soon, October 24, so we should help her and prepare materials. I think that what is needed is only a screencast video in the loop which can be displayed on a big screen. But also some answers to common questions one can learn.
We do not yet have business cards.
We should think what is the easiest way to get users to subscribe to our newsletter. We have a link on the first page, so this might be enough.
