IMO, this PIP is not satisfying with respect to proper description of the feature. PIPs are supposed to specify the entire feature and not just the intent. It would have been much better if there was
a chart that describes the entire flow for deposit, withdraw
a description about what happens exactly when witnesses rotate
an analysis about if and how cold storage could be achieved
an analysis about how much collusion is required to steal funds
some details about how much time it takes to withdraw, deposit
failure guards and safety measures when transactions are maybe missed or not executed (too small fee, etc ..)
Overall, this PIP is a good start, but far from being a thorough description of this rather complex topic.
Also, from a technical point of view, this does not describe a sidechain, but rather a federated gateway, managed by witnesses, no?
